Basic Principles

Crisp, Clean Coding with Hot Stamping Foil

Hot foil coding is used world-wide as a simple, effective and inexpensive method for on-line DATE and BATCH coding applications, hot stamping is a dry coding system and because there are no inks used in the printing process there is no curing time required between each printed code with the result that packaging lines can be run at optimal packaging speeds.

Hot foil coding offers durable, crisp, clean, legible coding on a wide variety of modern packaging films, as is evident above.

Good print quality is however reliant on a combination of several basic factors working together to achieve optimum print quality, date coding is intended to be functional and inconspicuous on the finished product, failure to adhere to the basic principles of hot foil stamping will have a direct bearing on print quality resulting in poor, smudged or illegible print impressions that not only defeats the purpose of BEST BEFORE coding, but may also impact on the aesthetics of the pre-printed packaging and ultimately the finished product.
